Prevention of Boar Taint in Pig Production

The Nordic Committee for Veterinary Scientific Cooperation

(Nordisk Komité for Veterinærvitenskapelig samarbeid, NKVet)
invites all scientists interested in male pig production.

 

The symposium will take place at the Quality Airpor Hotel Gardermoen,

which is located close to Oslo Airport. The programme includes, in addition

to several speakes for the Nordic countries, speakers from Canada, France

and Switzerland. Scientists are invited to present posters.

 

The symposium will last for two days and the programme has eight sessions:

 

Session 1: The Boar Taint Problem

Session 2: Boar-taint related compounds

Session 3: Genetics/Selection

Session 4: Non surgical methods to avoid boar taint

Session 5: Castration: Pain and analgesia

Session 6: Sorting of carcasses

Session 7: National research programmes/policies
