Dear all,

To celebrate the World Veterinary Year 2011, the European Commission's Directorate General for Health and Consumers (DG SANCO) and the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE),  jointly organised  The “Vets in your daily life” worldwide photo competition.
The idea behind the competition is to promote the veterinary profession, both in terms of the unseen role vets play in society, and the importance of the work they carry out "from farm to fork” keeping the food chain safe worldwide. 

A picture that shows a vet at work or in any other situation which portrays the diverse role of vets, for example, with a pet or any other animal, can be uploaded on the website and will be in with a chance of winning our great competition. The closing date is 31 March 2011.

The five winners will win photographic equipment of 1000 Euros and will be presented with this prize during the EU Veterinary Week conference on 19-20 May 2011, in Brussels, Belgium. The overall winner (picked from the five) to be announced at the 79th OIE General Session on Sunday 22 May 2011 in Paris, France, will win additional 2000 Euros photographic equipment. Part of the prize for the 5 winners will be travel to and from both Brussels and Paris, and also accommodation while there.
